Ann Martin Richardson — College of Education Student Council President

Meet Ann Martin!

My name is Ann Martin Richardson, and I am the College of Education's Student Council President. I'm from Vestavia Hills, Alabama, and I am a senior majoring in Secondary Mathematics Education.

I am a third-generation Auburn student, so I grew up coming to Auburn my entire life and knew this was where I wanted to go to college. After graduation, I plan to move back to Birmingham to find a job and plan to get my master's soon after.

My favorite thing about the College of Education is the support that I have received. All the professors, advisors, and students have been so encouraging to me and I’m so thankful to be surrounded by such great people.

I wanted to be a member of the school council because I wanted to get involved and break out of my shell. I have been on the school’s council for two years and I have met so many new people and have had so much fun.

The biggest piece of advice that I would give new students is to talk to people in your classes. It is a great way to make new friends and find people that have the same interests as you. I don’t know what I would do without the people that I have met in my major—we help each other out so much. For the Haley Center, I always have to remember the way the room numbers are set up. First number is the floor, second number is the quadrant, and the third and fourth numbers are the room number.

My favorite Auburn tradition would have to be the eagle flying—it has always been my favorite thing, and this year, I am most excited for the football games and all the fun 'lasts' of senior year. I am soaking up every moment in my favorite place in the world!
