The program provides the opportunity through elective course work to specialize in vocational evaluation and to sit for the Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE) examination. Specialization in other areas of rehabilitation counseling such as forensic rehabilitation, substance abuse counseling, and other topical areas may be obtained through the selection of appropriate elective courses in consultation with the student's major advisor. Graduates of the doctoral program are prepared for careers in research and instruction in higher education, or leadership roles in administration and policy-making at the state and national levels.

Distance Learning Option

Distance program offerings in Rehabilitation Counseling include the master’s degrees. Courses are primarily offered asynchronously via online. Contact the Program Coordinator for additional program specific information relating to technology, exam, software/hardware, and technical competence requirements.

Auburn University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSOC) to award bachelor's, master's, educational specialist and doctor's degrees. The bachelor’s and master’s rehabilitation programs are accredited by the Council of Rehabilitation Education (CORE). The Rehabilitation Counseling program ranked No. 17 in the Health Disciplines category of U.S.News & World Report’s “Best Graduate Schools’’ survey of 2012.
