The minor in Sport Management coursework is distributed among sport management, sociology of sport, sport finance and marketing, sport ethics and public relations, and practicum in athletic administration. Students benefit from the expertise of senior athletics administrators in the practicum experience. The practicum content addresses student-athlete academic support, finance, compliance with NCAA rules, gender equity and diversity, and event management. Sport management at Auburn attracts a national representation of students, with backgrounds in athletic administration, athletic training, coaching, and other areas.
The Sport Management graduate minor requires completion of 18 hours of courses as follows:
KINE 6820 Sport Management (3 hrs)
KINE 7750 Advanced Sport Psychology (3 hrs) OR
KINE 7970 Special Topics: Sociology of Sport (3 hrs)
HIED 7400 Sport Marketing and Public Relations (3 hrs)
HIED 7410 Sport Ethics (3 hrs)
HIED 7910 Practicum in Athletic Administration (6 hrs)
Degree seeking students who intend to add the graduate minor to their current degree program must notify the coordinator before completion of their degree program.
