The Agriscience Education programs prepares individuals to serve as highly qualified and certified agriscience technology education teachers for grades 6-12. The program includes coursework in animal science, horticulture, agronomy and soils, agricultural economics, agricultural mechanics, forestry, plant science, environmental science, and aquaculture. Professional education coursework includes planning for instruction, assessing student performance, working with diverse learners as well as advising youth organizations, working with supervised agricultural experience programs, and evaluating agriscience technology education programs.

Distance Learning Option

Distance program offerings in Agriscience Education include the alternative master’s, traditional master’s, and education specialist degrees. Courses are primarily offered asynchronously via online. Contact the Program Coordinator for additional program specific information relating to technology requirements, exam requirements, software/hardware requirements, and technical competence requirements.

Accreditation and Approvals

Auburn University holds regional accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Auburn University’s College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist programs in Agriscience Education are approved by the Alabama State Board of Education. In addition, the State of Alabama signs the National Association of State Directors of Education and Certification (NASDTEC) Interstate Agreement which facilitates the applications of graduates when they apply for certification in other states.
