Sydney Freeman, Jr., director of Tuskegee’s Teaching and Learning Center, has been named to the American Association of University Administrators Board of Directors. Founded in 1970, the association works to develop and advance higher education professional standards.
Freeman earned his M.Ed in Higher Education Administration at Auburn in 2008, and his Ph.D in 2011.
In addition to his duties at the Teaching and Learning Center in Tuskegee’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, and Allied Health, Freeman was one of three editors of Advancing Higher Education as a Field of Study: In Quest of Doctoral Degree Guidelines. The book discusses “the most pressing issues facing higher education graduate preparation degree programs,” according to the publisher.
Freeman recalls that while at Auburn, “I was interested in developing a manuscript dissertation. This atypical dissertation option allows a student to develop several chapters into manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals. Taking this option allows a student to publish dissertation findings immediately after defending the dissertation.” Freeman has gone on to be a prolific author on topics in higher education.
