Saigim Garcia, from Canton, Georgia, has been named the Graduation Marshal for the College of Education’s spring 2021 graduating class. Majoring in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies, Garcia has a passion for working with people with intellectual, physical, and developmental disabilities, as well as advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves.
“To say I am honored does not begin to describe how I feel about being chosen to represent the College of Education as the Student Graduation Marshal,” she said. “Auburn University and the College of Education have given me so much during my time here. The people I have met, the knowledge and understanding I have gained, and the memories I have made have molded me into the person I am today, and Auburn is to thank for all of that. To be able to represent the College of Education is a dream and a privilege.”
College of Education Dean Jeffrey Fairbrother said Garcia’s commitment to helping others reflects the spirit of the college.
“One of the hallmarks of the College of Education is that all of our graduates, in one way or another, will go on to live a life of service to others. This is certainly true of Saigim Garcia and we wish her — and all of our graduates — the very best as they carry this spirit into their professional lives.”
