COE Professor invited to serve on National Science Foundation Advisory Committee

strutchensDr. Marilyn Strutchens has accepted an invitation to serve a three-year term on the Advisory Committee for the Directorate of Education and Human Resources (EHR) at the National Science Foundation (NSF). Strutchens serves the College of Education as the Emily R. and Gerald S. Leischuck Endowed Professor for Critical Needs in Education in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching, According to NSF Senior Advisor Gail D. McClure, Strutchens was nominated numerous times, both internally and externally, because of her diverse knowledge and experience and commitment to inclusive STEM education.

The Advisory Committee serves to advise EHR and the Director’s Office on matters such as long-range planning, broadening participation, program reviews, stakeholder development, and other matters related to STEM education.

The EHR directorate is responsible for a number of NSF programs within four organizations, including Undergraduate Education, Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings, Human Resource Development, and Graduate Education.
