To underscore the University-wide message sent out over the weekend by President Gogue, I want to say a few words about our own College. The College of Education has long held diversity as one of its Core Values, along with a Mission to build a better future for all in a richly diverse and ever-changing world. We believe the quality of teaching and human services is enriched by differences in perspectives shaped by diversity. We encourage the civil and respectful discussion of differences. In the course of passionate and even volatile discussions, our differences can either enrich or fragment our community. Therefore, civility and respect should guide our words and actions. The College of Education today reconfirms its commitment to inclusion, equity, and cultural responsiveness. Our College has and will continue to foster a welcoming, respectful, safe, and supportive environment.
