Physical Education Pedagogy – Jared Russell, Ph.D.
In Physical Education Teacher Education, Jared Russell, Ph.D., seeks to promote diverse climates and to study the relationships among students, teachers, and interns. His research initiated with physical education diversity and has expanded to diversity in other areas. His scholarship and outreach efforts focus on issues of diversity in higher education, graduate student socialization, and developing models for facilitating outreach efforts. The outreach efforts are aimed at improving the overall wellness of traditionally under-served populations. Russell collaborates extensively with K-20 institutions and local community agencies to promote social justice, outreach, and leadership development activities. He is currently the Director of Student Development and the Chief Diversity Officer within the College of Education. Russell also oversees the Future Scholars Summer Research Bridge Program serving prospective graduate students from HBCU’s.
