Sports Science Camp

June 11, 2017 – June 16, 2017

The Auburn University School of Kinesiology Sports Science Camp for high school students is June 11 – 16, 2017.

The AU Sports Science Camp is an opportunity for rising 9th through 12th grade students nationwide interested in the field of health science, physical activity, and sport performance to learn about the science behind sports.

This one-week, residential program provides high school students the opportunity to learn about the research and outreach initiatives in Auburn’s School of Kinesiology. Students meet faculty and mentors to guide them in the many opportunities within the field of Kinesiology, which prepares students for careers in medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physical education, athletic training, academia, and coaching.

Students will experience work conducted in the many laboratories, including biomechanics, motor learning, thermoregulation and infrared imaging; molecular science, nutrition, and supplements; neuromechanics, vascular physiology, exercise psychophysiology and performance; behavioral fitness, muscle biochemistry; and mindfulness. Participants will also learn and play the sport of team handball, and exciting fast-paced game played on a court, often referred to as “water polo on land.” Campers will also get to tour the Auburn University Athletic Facilities and the Campus Recreation Center to get an inside scoop on all things sports at Auburn.

Spend five nights on Auburn University’s beautiful campus and experience what it would be like to be a student here! Visit Toomer’s Corner and Auburn’s downtown for all that “the Loveliest Village” has to offer. You’ll definitely feel that War Eagle spirit!

Visit the Auburn Youth Programs website for more details and to register for the camp.
