EAGLES Curriculum


The EAGLES program curriculum includes Auburn University credit-bearing courses, as well as program specific courses focused on improving students’ independent living, social and employment outcomes. Students in the EAGLES program audit a minimum of eight university credit-bearing course hours each semester, as well as participate in inclusive EAGLES program courses. EAGLES students also participate in program specific courses focused on improving students’ independent living, social, and employment outcomes.

During the first year of the program, students engage in program coursework, work seminars, and work-based training practica in integrated settings.

During the second semester of the second year, students participate in an integrated employment residency. Successful program completion results in a College to Career Recognition.

Year One

Fall Semester

  • Credit-bearing course hours (including work-based practicum) – 8 average weekly hours
  • EAGLES program classes – 4 average weekly hours
  • Academic support and daily planning sessions – 2 average weekly hours
  • Social skills coaching sessions – 1 average weekly hour
  • Work seminar/Work-Based Training – 10 to 15 average weekly hours
  • Campus life (including lunch, exercise, and activity partners) – 10 to 12 average weekly hours
  • Community Service Project – 1 to 2 average weekly hours
  • Extracurricular activities (optional) – 3 to 4 average weekly hours

Spring Semester

  • Credit-bearing course hours (including work-based practicum) – 8 average weekly hours
  • EAGLES program classes – 4 average weekly hours
  • Academic support and daily planning sessions – 2 average weekly hours
  • Social skills coaching sessions – 1 average weekly hour
  • Work seminar/Work-Based Training – 10 to 15 average weekly hours

Spring Semester

  • EAGLES program classes – 2 average weekly hours
  • Academic support and daily planning sessions – 2 average weekly hours
  • Social skills coaching sessions – 1 average weekly hour
  • Work Seminar/Work-Based Training – 20 to 40 average weekly hours
  • Campus life (including lunch, exercise, and activity partners) – 10 average weekly hours
  • Community Service Project – 1 to 2 average weekly hours
  • Extracurricular activities (optional) – 3 to 4 average weekly hours
