It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership, and Technology. Our department consists of a diverse set of disciplines which are brought together to provide a variety of programs to meet your educational and professional development needs.
The mission of the department is to prepare exemplary educational practitioners and develop cooperative partnerships with University departments, schools, community agencies and business and industry to provide outstanding educators, trainers and leaders. This department ensures that students will participate in theoretical, applied and practitioner-based research enhancing the fields of adult education, higher education, educational leadership, educational media, and educational psychology. If you are interested in applying to any of these programs, please see the application steps and guidelines. I would also encourage you to review the information about our faculty and staff within the department. Our department's mission is to prepare leaders who work in partnership with higher education institutions, K-12 schools, community agencies, business and industry to provide outstanding teachers, principals, trainers, evaluators and other specialists.
We are located on the fourth floor of Haley Center on Auburn University's campus in Auburn, Alabama. The mailing address and other contact information is as follows:
Student enrollment at Auburn University is approximately 25,500 with degrees available in 13 schools and colleges at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels. This university is one of the largest in the South and remains in the educational forefront with a traditional blend of arts and applied science and is changing to meet the needs of today while living with a respect for Auburn traditions and spirit. War Eagle!
As a land-grant institution we have a special mission to engage in partnerships with Alabama schools, community and state agencies and others to prepare their educational leaders as well as to learn from their practice and assist them in continuously improving it. We are aware of rapid changes in the workforce and the importance of meeting those evolving needs with adaptive programs. We are working on initiatives toward the global delivery of our programs and the globalization of our own programs here. Alabama's agricultural and industrial base is globally dependent and increasingly its student population in K-12 and universities is multicultural and we work to make our graduates sensitive to those realities. Our curriculum and programs are a work in progress, mirroring the ever-changing environment, responding to the latest research findings and engaging in producing new knowledge to inform our teaching and improve the practice of our stakeholders and partners. We are a learning organization, teaching about and demonstrating, how learning organizations function in a rapidly changing world.
