Our program offers courses built on the “Scientist-Practitioner” model. We emphasize the integration of the science and practice of counseling psychology. The required coursework includes a full-time, one-year, pre-doctoral internship. Our graduates are employed in psychological service areas such as college and university counseling centers and Veterans Administration hospitals. Successful completion of the program results in a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degree.
The Counseling Psychology program is accredited by the American Psychological Association. The program was most recently re-accredited following a site visit in fall 2017. The next re-accreditation visit is scheduled to take place in 2027.
